As a specialist in making walking floor and tipper trailers, we are also specialists when it comes to the characteristics of unloaded bulk materials during loading and unloading. From sand to gravel, from clay to demolition, from glass to scrap... all these raw materials have different properties and often lead to a separate approach during the unloading process.
Sticky bulk materials, incomplete loading, steep angles of inclination or unevenness in the soil can be problematic and dangerous. Our drivers know the consequences of this, which increases the safety risk and loss of time.
To make the unloading process faster, more efficient and safer, even for bulk materials that are difficult to unload, we at STAS offer a wide range of liners. These liners can be used on all our tipping trailers except demolition and asphalt trailers and are an important aid to successful bulk transport.
Liners are very wear-resistant, they withstand the bulk materials up to 3 times more and up to 3 times lighter than aluminium. We can see this very strongly when we disassemble the liner at the end of the (extended) life cycle of the tipping trailer. After disassembly, we don't see any damage to the aluminium body. This reduces maintenance and repair costs and the tipping body will still be in new condition, which only benefits the second hand value.
A second characteristic is that the angle at which the bulk goods must be unloaded will be considerably smaller. This comes in handy in case of uneven or unstable road surface as the centre of gravity of the trailer is reduced and this ensures a safer and more stable tipping angle. The height of the tipped trailer is also lower, reducing the chance of coming into contact with obstacles above the trailer.
The third very clear feature of a liner is that it makes the inside of the tipper very slippery. This ensures that even with more difficult loads such as sand, gravel, limestone, grain and fertilizers, the trailer will be unloaded even faster and more efficiently. Making the unloading process faster results in a larger number of loads per day and therefore a higher profit.
The liner is applied on tippers at our Belgian dealer Atrac in Waregem.
As the liner shrinks and expands depending on the temperatures (which can vary up to about 1 cm per 10°C), it is mounted as a floating unit and fastened only at the front. On the sides, the liner is fixed by means of a Z-profile that is held against the aluminium tipping body.
When pre-bonded and welded to the floor and side walls, the liner will automatically get stuck.
