TIPS & TRICKS - keep the paintwork on your trailer in top condition

As winter is upon is, it’s a good time to have a look at how you maintain the paintjob on your trailer as extreme weather can be detrimental to your trailer’s condition. Just think of the mud and grit scratching the surface, or road salt affecting your vehicle’s paintwork. These conditions can result in expensive repairs but can also decrease the resale value of your trailer. We have some tips for you on how to take care of your trailer’s paintjob:

  1. Have you got a brand new STAS trailer? Wait for at least three months before you clean it with high-pressure equipment.
  2. When cleaning the trailer with high-pressure equipment, always keep the following limits in mind: with water temperatures of 60°, use max. 40 bar pressure and at a distance of 20-30 cm from the vehicle. Never go over 60° as this can severely damage the paintwork.
  3. Dilute or remove any acidic or saline products that are on your vehicle as soon as possible. A good example here is road salt.
  4. Ensure additional paintwork protection by using a sealer or lacquer sealant. Regularly use a special paint cleaner after washing your vehicle. This product can be applied by machine. Avoid using cleaners containing wax because they always leave residues which will contaminate your vehicle.
